What Happens If You Quit Smoking?

* Within 20 minutes your blood pressure and heart rate return to normal.

* Within 8 hours the amount of oxygen in your blood goes back to normal.

* Within 48 hours nicotine is no longer detected in your blood and your blood and you can smell and taste better.

* Within 72 hours it will be easier for you to breathe because your bronchi (those tiny sacs in the lungs where oxygen gets into the blood) become more elastic, plus your energy level is increasing.

* Within 2-12 weeks the circulation in your body is repaired.

* Within 3-9 months all respiratory discomfort like coughing and wheazing gets better, overall lung performance increases by 5-10%

* Within 5 years the risk of suffering from heart attack drops to half that of people who continue to smoke.
