The rainy reason has come. You’d better prepare yourselves for those web days. Here are some tips to keep you warm and comfortable.
1. Arm yourselves with an umbrella and, if posible, with a rain coat or parka when you got out. Choose a sturdy umbrella, not a flimsy one with fragile ribs. To prevent your raincoat from getting moldy, wipe its inner part right after use and hang it to dry.
2. If it’s raining cats and dogs and you’re facing a long journey, don’t let the rainwater, muck, and dirt on the road spoil your appearance. Bringspare clothing in case you get soaked. Put your shoes in your bag and wear flip-flops instead.
3. Always wear footwear that has a good grip (with grid patterned outsoles for slip-resistance).
4. Carry a small plastic bottle of antiseptic liquid like dettol with you and wash any muck or dirt off your skin. To prevent infections, never scratch itchy spots on your skin before washing.
5. Wear brught colors so that drivers and riders can clearly see you on the road.
6. If you drive a car or ride a motor cycle, always check the air pressure level in your tires. Bald tires are a no-no in the rainy season. You can lose control of your vehicle on a slipper road. Make sure that the wippers and windows of your car work properly.
7. The first rainfall is always welcome, right? Don’t get carried away by it’s magic. Wait for a few minutes before you’re wet through. The first rainfall, especially in polluted cities, always brings pollutans back with it to earth. Prevention is better than cure. To keep those sniffling days away during the wet season, try having a hot shower right after you get drenched. (c’ns vol.7 no.52)
